These horses are available for free care lease. The horse is taken care of by the leaser but if any situation changes in which the horse can no longer be cared for, the horse is returned to The Liberty Barn. This is our safety net program. Potential fosters will need to provide vet, farrier, and personal references, as well as boarding references if needed. Please contact us for an application.
Dude is a 20 year old Palomino gelding. 14.3 1/2 hands. Needs experienced rider as he knows what he can get away with. No spook. Does need to be body clipped and has summer sores that pop up occasionally that will need to be managed.
Captain is a 13 yo TB/Warmblood gelding who is companion only. He has arthritis in one hock and possibly in one stifle so cannot be ridden. He is a great buddy horse and gets along with everyone he meets. He's 19 hh.
Jess is a 20+ yo Percheron mare. She was an Amish work horse. She was reportedly ridden in her former life but we have not confirmed this. She has a summer sore that will need to be maintained. She is shy but a good companion.
Hippie is a 20 year old grade (possibly Morgan) gelding. He was originally a stallion (until a year ago) and was surrendered to the Okeechobee Animal Control in emaciated condition. We've overcome behavioral challenges but he's a perfect gentleman now that he's been castrated. He has never been ridden as far as we know but is a great companion horse. If you'd like a beautiful black (former) st
Archie is an OTTB mare who was "off" when being ridden. She was sent here for us to work out why she was acting out. We have given her some time off and she runs around the pasture like the wind. She has been sent for 30 days of professional training and needs an experienced rider to continue her training. She excelled at the trail obstacle course so would likely be at least a good trail hors
Fury is an OTTB gelding who was sent to TLB because he has kissing spine and flat feet, preventing him from reaching the previous owner's goals. We are working on fixing his feet with farriery and will re-evaluate him once his heels grow out a bit. For now, he would make a great companion horse.
Danny came to us as an emaciated, lame, neglected 10 month old colt and has blossomed into a nearly 3 year old beefcake. He will be sent to training in March and then we will see what he is capable of! The sky is the limit for this kid.
Duncan came to us because the owner could not take care of his summer sores on his face. He was also quite thin. He was apparently trail ridden but we will send Duncan to our trainer for confirmation. He does make a good companion horse. His summer sores need to be maintained.
Red is a 15 yo OTTB gelding. He needs to be sent to training as he has not been ridden in a long time.
George needs a lameness evaluation but has been ridden in the past. He had throat surgery which has resulted in him having a chronic snotty nose with feed material. He's shy and would do well with one other horse as a companion if you did not want a riding horse.
